ISOVox 2 Review - The Vocalist Studio

home recording isolation practice booth quiet recording vocal booth Sep 24, 2019

If you record your vocals at home, you’re probably pretty familiar with problems that can arise from recording in an untreated environment. For starters, you’re dealing with noise reflections in your room, including unintentional ambient sound, early reflections, echo, and reverb, which can make your recordings sound far less professional. Secondly, you’re dealing added noise in your room or home studio that could also slip into your recordings, such as air conditioning or computer noise.

Therein enters the IsoVox 2.

It is different than stand-mounted vocal booths in that it completely surrounds the microphone, similar to the way that a standard vocal booth does. The question is, could it possibly be the answer to all your recording problems?

Let’s dig into this IsoVox 2 review to find out more!

Specs

  • Foam Construction
  • 360-Degree Isolation Coverage
  • Dimensions: 31.5″ x 19″ x 18″
  • Easy-Zipper Assembly

The Review

The IsoVox 2 is essentially a soundproof vocal booth that is tailor-made for your home studio. You can set it up in just about any room, no matter what size or type. You could even record in your bathroom if you really wanted to! The shielding runs around the entire 360-degrees, helping to reject any room reflections or outside noise, as well as reducing leakage into the outside world. You’ll find that your vocal tracks will sound far tighter and cleaner overall.

The IsoVox 2 can give you up to -35dB of noise reduction as well, which is beautiful for those people that live in apartments or have roommates and need to record quietly. When you’re done, simply unzip it and fold it up to store it away. It may seem a bit bulky when it is set up, though when undone, it can fit in your closet with ease.

There is a small LED fixture that is on the inside, which provides you with just enough lighting to remain comfortable, and it feels relaxing when you are recording. It also helps to keep things like lyric sheets visible when they are sitting on the built-in shelf.

Should You Buy It?

With all of the portable booths that are on the market, it can be difficult to find the right one. If there is one that seems to trump them all, it is the IsoVox 2. This thing is a true godsend for achieving studio-quality recordings no matter where you are.
